After following the well-established karting route in both his homeland and Europe, Vips moved to Italian F4 and ADAC Formula 4 in 2016. A year later, he took the latter title after a close battle with Marcus Armstrong. He then moved up to Formula 3, but really progressed after an encouraging Formula 3 championship performance in both 2018 and 2019. His career stalled slightly after the coronavirus pandemic effectively curtailed any racing in Super Formula in Japan, for which he had been earmarked, but he concentrated on his Red Bull testing duties instead whilst also racing in Formula 2. However in June 2022, Vips was suspended by Red Bull after using a racial slur on a Twitch livestream. Following that incident, he moved to America to do some testing for Indycar teams, which paid dividends later in 2023 when he got a drive in the series and he remains there in 2024.
